Digital mapping and software company DeLorme today announced a new, next generation GPS receiver for laptop PC’s called GPS LT-40. The new receiver uses the STMicroelectronics Teseo chipset which promises great accuracy even in urban environments.
This new Teseo chipset is apparently one of the most sensitive receivers out there handling signals as weak as -159dBm and has a fancy ConstantLock signal retention feature.
LT-40 will be available this April for $70 but it will also include Street Atlas USA 2009 which predicts where new roads will be built in the next year. The software also has some nice features such as responding to voice commands, and giving voice directions including pronouncing street names.
