Magellan today announced Maestro Elite 5340+GPRS connected auto navigation unit featuring Google Local Search - meaning Dash is not the only device out there to hit the market with two way connectivity.

Expected to ship within the first quarter of 2008 and cost a whopping $1300, the new 5340 offers wireless GPRS connection, which can deliver real-time traffic information, local weather forecasts, and makes it possible for users to send addresses and notes to this expensive GPS navigation system directly from any internet connected computer.

The high end system has a 5″ WQVGA screen and is powered by a 533 MHz S-Media 3362 processor. We have no info if there’ll be any monthly fees for the GPRS connection. We’ll keep you updated.
