Navigon announced the Navigon 2100, an entry level GPS system that offers the basics plus some reaching features that makes the offering interesting. The unit which lists at $249, offers a standard screen size of 3.5-inches, SiRF star III chipset, a 400Mhz processor, NAVTEQ maps of the US, as well as text-to-speech which is often only seen on higher end models. With the announcement of the Garmin Nuvi 260, an entry level line with text-to-speech (TTS) capabilities, it seems like rolling the TTS feature down the lines is becoming a very welcome trend. Like its siblings, the Navigon 7100 and 5100, the Navigon 2100 will offer Reality View, a 3-D view of complex intersections that gives you a virtual reality view of where to go.

Additionally, the unit will offer a lifetime subscription to TMC traffic for $99, and access to its Zagat data for $39. Look for the Navigon 2100 to hit shelves ‘this winter’.
