Magellan just announced MobileMapper CX, a handheld GPS receiver for professional GIS users for data collection. The device offers sub-meter accuracy and comes with Magellan’s Mobile mapping software.

The MobileMapper CX comes standard with intuitive Mobile Mapping application software from Magellan that features all the functions GIS users need most. The software is elegant and simple, making proficient use quick and easy with minimum training. Key GIS data logging capabilities include GIS feature libraries for logging feature descriptions; support for logging point, line and area features; an offset function for logging hard to reach features; and more.

Magellan MobileMapper CX has the form factor of a regular handheld GPS receiver but it features a numeric keypad on the front that can be operated with one hand which makes data entry even easier. This professional grade device also features integrated Wi-Fi so you can browse the web and connect to other networks data exchange and such. It also supports bluetooth 2.0. MobileMapper CX accepts SD cards upto 4GB which can be used download satellite maps and GIS databases.
