Garmin is about to get certified that will allow installation of Garmin’s G1000 flightdeck on certain models of Cessna CitationJet.
The new Garmin G1000 has a large 12″ multi-function display (MFD) and two 10.4″ primary flight displays (PFD) and it includes Garmin’s GFC 700 three-axis, fully digital, dual channel, fail passive automatic flight control system (AFCS), coupled wide area augmentation system (WAAS) approaches, vertical navigation, and flight level change (FLC).
Other features include synthetic vision technology (SVT) that presents a 3D depiction of terrain, obstacles, traffic and the runway environment, FMS with dual WAAS LPV, Class-B terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS), dual integrated solid-state attitude and heading reference systems (AHRS), and dual integrated digital air data computers.
Thanks to the G1000’s lightweight and modular design, the G1000 installation results in a weight savings of approximately 100 pounds.
If you’re a jet owner you’ll have to wait until early second quarter of 2010.
