Mio and Navman just announced three new GPS navigation systems for the European markets. They’re the Navman 575, Navman 475, and Navman 470. What’s interesting with these new models is that TomTom licensed their IQ Routes technology to Mio for these three sat nav devices, and Mio put their own LearnMe feature on top of that which learns to use the roads that you like.

At the hardware level Navman 470 and 475 look quite similar, offering 4.3″ screens, and the Navman 575 one ups them with a 4.7″ touch screen.

It looks like Navman 470 will be offered at a price you can’t refuse: Only £99 with Western European maps included. Navman 575 on the other hand will reach in your pocket for £149.99 when it launches in May.

Navman just recently announced M-Nav 750, a GPS dispatch and messaging device. M-Nav 750 enables drivers to receive dispatch instructions, view maps to their next stop, and send messages back to the main office. M-Nav 750 looks just like a regular GPS navigation system and on the vehicle dashboard or windshield. Relevant maps and turn-by-turn directions are displayed automatically when the driver accepts a job.

Some hardware specs of the M-Nav 750 include SirfStarIII GPS, RoHS/WEE compliance, and operating temperatures from -10C to +60C.

The device is available for lease so it doesn’t require much capital investment. The service is $18 per device, depending on unit volume.

Navman selects NAVTEQ as preferred map supplier in Australia

Digital map maker NAVTEQ announced yesterday an agreement that Navman will utilize the NAVTEQ map of Australia in its entire range of portable navigation devices. NAVTEQ is already powering the full range of Mio devices since the end of last year. With this new agreement, NAVTEQ is becoming the preferred map supplier for MiTAC (the company who owns Navman, Mio and Magellan) in Australia.





The relationship between NAVTEQ and Navman in Australia began in October 2008 when Navman first selected NAVTEQ to supply map data and content for its premium S-Series Platinum devices. Navman was previously using the Whereis map database from Sensis, which has a strategic agreement with Tele Atlas.





In the rest of the world Navman and Mio brands use Tele Atlas while Magellan is a NAVTEQ customer.

We had already talked about the arrival of top-of-the-line GPS navigation system from Navman, Navman S300T. Today we have a review of the Navman S300T GPS navigation system. Before we share a few ideas from the review, let’s a have a general look at the feature and spec set. First off, S300T has a 4.3″ widescreen like the rest of the Platinum series. It is touchscreen and uses their ‘glide touchscreen’ interface. Some software features include advanced lane guidance, 3D landmarks and junction views, text to speech with an Australian accent, safety alerts for school zones, red light cameras, and mileage reporter.

More high end features on S300T include Live Local search, Live Traffic updates, bluetooth hands free calling with a compatible phone, and FM transmitter.

The reviewer thought having a single button on the device was a good idea just like excluding and useless features such as a digital camera. It was lighweight and slim, and the graphics were well drawn. The 3D views at complicated intersections was quite helpful, but the same can not said about 3D landmarks.

S300T came with lifetime traffic updates provided by SUNA traffic - however it was a bit too cryptic…

After announcing the first model S100 back in October, Navman is adding three new models to the S-series. S150, S200, and S300T. However do not get your hopes up so fast if you’re here in the U.S. since it looks like these new models will be for the Australian market.

The S150 has a 4.3’ super slim and sleek widescreen equipped with glide touch technology making for smoother use. The voice guidance system is spoken in a true Australian dialect, which promptly informs and guides the user to his or her destination while warning about upcoming school zones, railway crossings, speed and red light cameras, and blackspots. And different from the earlier model S150 also adds 3D Landmark and Junction Views to help the user orientate themselves with their surroundings. Not only does it have Handfree Bluetooth calling, but through Trucall can provide listings of over a million businesses.

S200: The S200 has all the bells and whistles of the 100 and 150, but provides an awesome advantage over the other two. It is outfitted with an FM Transmitter/Receiver that allows the user to hear Navman voice guidance system through their car stereo. MP3s can also be transmitted and played from their cell phone via the Bluetooth technology.

Never take your eyes off the road again with this unit. S300T: The S300T is definitely their highest end GPS navigation system. It is fully equipped with all the features that come with the S-series with a few extra perks. It has premium safety alerts giving live traffic updates which warns of accidents, roadwork, and provides re-routing options. Using the Bluetooth Technology via Trucall the user can easily connect to all the businesses in the area and guide them to their favorite restaurant destination hands free. The software is very user friendly and touch screen capability allows for quick function changes while driving. Installation in your car is a cinch by simply applying it to your dashboard with the very strong and durable adhesive strip, or placing it on your windshield with the mount provided.

Navman just launched the new S-Series GPS navigation systems and the first new model in the series is the S100. S100 is only 13.5mm thick and has 4.3″ widescreen screen with no bevels. It has a few improved features such as 3D city landmarks, NavPix geo-tagged photo navigation, Local Search via Infobel, and true Pedestrian mode.

The S100 uses the new ‘Spirit’ software, which utilizes a new Glide Touch user-interface.

Users simply tap and slide the touchscreen to open, dock, pan and scroll menus, similar to the latest MP3 players and smartphones.

Navman S100 also European Local Search in partnership with local directory search partner, Infobel. However you’ll have to do your searches on your desktop and download them to your device before taking off.

Navman launches F10

Right after renewing its S series sat nav systems with S30, S50, S70 and S90i, Navman is adding a new member to its F series: Navman F10.

F10 will follow the form factor of the F series, and will look quite similar to the F20 which we had talked about here at NaviGadget. F10 is an entry level model and it uses a light version of Navman’s navigation software called SmartST 2008. As usual F10 also offers preloaded radar database. On the other hand, it does not come with a USB cable nor the Navman Desktop software, which is necessary for the update of the radars. It is an optional add-on for 15 €. F10 also is not compatible with live traffic information.

The maps come from Tele Atlas and dates back to April 2007 and it is stored on the 512MB internal storage like the S series. F10 comes with a SiRF Star III GPS chip and has a 3.5″ display.

Navman F10 will be offered at 150 € (appx $213).

The recent S series from Navman we talked about few weeks ago also offer a basic model called S30 which only cost about £ 146 in the U.K. It is truly an entry level system - with only extra that comes out of the box is pre-installed safety camera data which is about to become a standard for sat nav systems offered in Europe.

There’s no word if the Navman S30 will make it to the States side just yet.

Also introduced from Navman is Navman S70. Navman S70 will come with maps of Western Europe which covers over 6 million miles of streets throughout 21 European countries.

It is also traffic information compatible which will attempt to keep you out of traffic jams. Like other mid to high end GPS navigation system Navman S70 also offers bluetooth connectivity in case you have plans for pairing up your phone with your sat nav device.

Navman S70 has a 4.3″ touchscreen, offers a free trial for safety camera locations, and has the ability to navigate to pictures using NavPix software. However S70 lacks an onboard digital camera. It will soon start shipping and will cost £200.

Panasonic introduced a new GPS navigation system at IFA 2007 for the European market called Strada CN-GP50N. The device has a huge screen and a good price at 400€.

As opposed to its strong competition in the field, such as TomTom and Garmin, Panasonic decided to focus its experience on the video and audio features of CN-GP50N which made this device more of an entertainment center rather than just plain old GPS navigation.

The display on CN-GP50N measures 5″ - leaving their competition 0.7″ behind - hoping to attract consumers who are looking into watching videos in their vehicle.

Panasonic incorporates maps of 37 European countries, including 1.3 million points of interest and even 3D city maps of certain locations and landmarks. For upgrades to the maps Strada CN-GP50N supports SD cards, but it can also be connected to using the USB port on the device.

Some other high-end features of the device also include Smart Assist which comes into to play GPS signals are weak, the bluetooth connectivity for hands free calling, and the ability to enter destination address by voice commands.

Just like most other high end GPS navigators Strada CN-GP50N also has the ability to download radar and speed camera warnings off of Panasonic’s website and warn the drive when approaching these locations…
