Not to be left out of the Japanese GPS navigation system race, Sanyo - just like Panasonic - also added three new devices to their Gorilla series.

Their new models are the NV-SB531DT, NV-SB541DT, NV-SD630DT.

By default they all have 8GB of internal storage, 1Seg TV tuner but differ when it comes to screen size, and a few other features. Here is how the new GPS devices measure up:

• NV-SB531DT: 5.2″ screen


• NV-SB541DT: 5.2″ screen and VICS for live traffic information


• NV-SD630DT: 6.2″ screen and VICS for live traffic information

Sanyo Gorilla Lite - also known as NV-LB50DT is from the all familiar Sanyo Gorilla series. Too bad they only release their GPS navigation systems in Japan - because this new Gorilla Lite looks quite enticing.

This slim profiled device only measures 18.8mm thin and packs in a lot of features, such as the 4GB internal memory, support for MP3, MP4, JPEG, and WMA files, and of course a 1 Seg TV tuner - which is pretty standard in Japan these days. All of this offered to you on a 5″ touch screen which automatically rotates thanks to the gyro sensor…

Sanyo Gorilla NVA-GS1609FT and NVA-GS1409DT

Sanyo just introduced two new in dash GPS navigation systems called Gorilla NVA-GS1609FT and Gorilla NVA-GS1409DT. Both these GPS navigation systems run on solid state drives (SSDs), feature a 7″ touchscreen, and an amazing user interface that features 3D buildings, very detailed intersection rendering even indicating where traffic details are.

The two in-dash models will be released next month and include some features such as 1Seg TV tuner, DVD, CD players, FM player, and the ability to read audio from SD cards.

NVA-GS1609FT will have a 16GB SSD whereas NVA-GS1409DT will only allow for 8GB of storage. We have no word on pricing yet. Oh.. did we mention you won’t be seeing this here in the U.S? Sorry.

Sanyo is in the GPS game to the surprise of those who do not follow the scene, although their Gorilla line of GPS devices nearly went extinct a few years back. Since then, Sanyo has taken the relevant steps to bring the Gorilla GPS line back to life, with a trio of Gorilla SSD portable GPS navigation systems to make their debut in Japan later this year. The three Gorilla systems in question are the NV-SD730DT, NV-SB450DT and NV-SB530DT which will come in 7', 5.2’ and 5.2' screen sizes, respectively, complete with LED backlight, 8GB SSD, VICS Traffic information (not included on the NV-SB530DT), a 1-Seg TV Tuner and Eco Mode which alerts you whenever your foot steps on the gas pedal too much.

Sanyo has a big line of Gorilla GPS navigation systems and they added a few new ones just yesterday. The new systems are called Sanyo Gorilla NVA-GS1580FT (pictured above), NV-SD750FT, and NV-SB510DT. All system share most of their specs which include 4GB solid state drive, TV tuner, and a new feature called EcoDrive which attempts to save the earth. Except NV-SB510DT which has a 5.2″ screen; these GPS navigation systems feature a 7″ screen.

These possibly won’t make it to the U.S. but if you’re in Japan look for them starting November 20th…

Sanyo just introduced two brand new in-dash GPS navigation systems with solid state drives instead of the usual DVD based or hard drive based systems. The advantage with SSD will mainly be in terms of speed since reading the maps without having to spin things is a lot faster. The other advantage with SSD is the resistant to vibration, heat, and other environmental factors.

The two new models are NVA-MS1280DT and NVA-MS1180DT. The former comes with a 4GB SD card plus a 4GB solid state drive while MS1180DT only features a 4GB SSD. The other difference is that NVA-MS1280DT has a DVD player and can also record audio onto the SD card.

Other features on these new devices in addition to GPS navigation is the ability to play multiple media formats, FM receiver for traffic information, and support for iPod and iPod video.

Both devices will be out in June and will cost $1750 and $1500…

Sanyo Gorilla NV-SB360DT is one of the newest addition to Sanyo’s Gorilla lineup. NV-SB360DT has a 4.5″ screen, and to make things more portable the device supports swappable batteries.

The internal storage is in the form of a 4GB solid state drive (SSD) and included in the $850 price tag is a 1-Seg TV tuner which can record onto an SD card. Recording is via EPG which allows for 10 different shows to be pre-programmed and upto 80 hours if you have a 16GB SD card.

Sanyo Gorilla NV-SB360DT will be available on April 21 (in Japan)…

While we get satellite radio the Japanese get digital TV on the move, and the new Sanyo GPS see to it that you dont miss your favorite programs when on the move. Sanyo Japan has announced NV-SD700DT and NV-SB360DT GPS units which come with 4GB SSD memory, a zippy processor and the newly developed Gorilla engine which can easily process traffic data, GPS co-ordinates and playback music at the same time. The comes NV-SD700DT with a 7 inch touchscreen and two antennas whereas the NV-SB360DT comes with 4.5 inch screen and a single antenna. Both the models have a One Seg tuner with support for recording via EPG using which the unit can be pre-programmed upto 10 different programs on a SD card. A 16GB card can hold upto 80 hours of digital TV recording. Apart from this the units constantly monitor your vehicle speed and warn you of over speeding and even during rapid acceleration as that causes more pollution.
Both the models will be hitting Japanese stores on April 21. The NV-SD700DT will be selling for 105,000 Yen ($ 1050) and the NV-SB360DT for 85,000 Yen ($ 850)

Sanyo updates EasyStreet lineup

Sanyo, a small player in the GPS navigation market, have updated their EasyStreet lineup with three models. NVM-4370, NVM-4350, and NVM-4330. All three devices have the same form factor as seen above but differ in terms of internal hardware: NVM-4330 is the new base model; NVM-4350 adds bluetooth with a built-in microphone for hands free calling, and NVM-4370 adds FM transmitter on top of it all.

All three share the same 4.3″ wide screen format touch screen LCD, have 4GB internal memory, SD card slot, video input for backup camera compatibility, and support TMC traffic receiver. NVM-4370 retails for $380, NVM-4350 for $345, and NVM-4330 for $310.

Sanyo had a new in-dash navigation system on display at CES 2008 called NVM-E2000D. The in-dash system fits into 2DIN slots and it uses flash memory instead of relying on hard disk drives.

NVM-E2000D has a 5.8″ TFT wide touch screen, video input terminal for rear view camera, front aux-in terminal to hook up your audio player. It comes with 1.8 millions of POIs and also has support for SD cards.

The software on NVM-E2000D can play DVD movies, MP3 files, show JPEG photos too. Did we mention it has support for TMC for live updates?
