Pioneer just recently announced a new in-dash GPS navigation system called Pioneer AVIC Z120BT which has a 2-DIN form factor and has a 7″ screen.

This is apparently their new flagship model which now adds the ability to listen to Pandora in your vehicle - but it actually streams the data through your iPhone using Pioneer’s own PandoraLink app for the device.

Pioneer AVIC Z120BT has all sorts of audio/visual specs but as far as GPS navigation it runs on TeleAtlas maps which covers all 50 U.S. states and Canada, has 12 million POIs in its database, and more importantly implements a voice recognition feature so you can enter addresses just by speaking.

Pioneer just added to their ‘Carrozzeria’ HDD car navigation systems. The two new series are ‘CYBER’ with built-in flash and ‘Easy Navigation Lite’ both of which will have three new models.

In the Cyber series 1DIN +1 DIN’s ‘AVIC-VH9990″ and the 2DIN ‘AVIC-ZH9990″ both come with 7″ 800x480 LCD touch screen LCD, digital terrestrial tuner and a DVD navigation system with HDD drive. ‘AVIC-H9990″ on the other hand HDD AV Navi unit model.

Lite easy navigation has the 2DIN MRZ90G and MRZ90II with a 7″ LCD, MRZ85 with 6.1″ LCD. However they all have 800x480 resolution. Internal memory is the same as traditional navigation 4GB.

Pioneer just introduced a brand new in-dash GPS navigation system at the CES 2010 called Pioneer X920BT.

Pioneer X920BT will cost $1200 and feature a 6.1″ touchscreen with 800x600 resolution, voice recognition to help you keep your hands on the wheel, TeleAtlas maps of all 50 states, micoSD card slot, support for satellite radio, bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port to connect to iPod or iPhone which automatically creates playlists for you.

The new interface lets you control most of the interface by dragging your fingers.

Yeah the images show Pandora radio but currently we have no information how a connection to internet is established.

Pioneer suing Garmin over three navigation patents

Pioneer's GPS products don't make huge waves in the Stateside navigation market, but it's actually got some fairly broad patents on route guidance and mapping, and apparently Garmin's infringing them. That's at least the story Pioneer's telling to the US International Trade Commission, where it's filed a complaint against Garmin and asked for a ban on sales of GPS products that infringe the patents. Obviously that would shake things up in a big way, but we clearly don't have the whole story here -- Pioneer and Garmin have apparently been negotiating for some time, and the two companies are currently fighting it out in the German court system as well. We'll see how this one shakes out -- stay tuned.

Pioneer also announced AVIC-X910BT, another 2-DIN in dash GPS navigation system which combines turn-by-turn navigation, audio, video entertainment and numerous connectivity options that can give you control over iPod, iPhone, Bluetooth capable cell phones, MSN Direct, and satellite radio.

The GPS navigation system part has a TeleAtlas maps database that cover USA, and Canada, with 12 million points of interest (POI) and provide various map views such as 2D and 3D, realistic highway intersection views, a new GUI, and various 3D buildings.

The AVIC-X910BT has a built-in MSN Direct tuner which requires a subscription service. If you decide to pay up you can get updates on traffic for 134 cities across the United States and Canada, weather forecasts, gas prices, movie times, news headlines, local events and even stock quotes.

Pioneer AVIC-X910BT has a 5.8″ WVGA touch panel display, CD, DVD, USB and SD memory card slots, a mini A/V input jack, and of course bluetooth connectivity.

AVIC-X910BT is available $1,100.

Pioneer just unveiled the AVIC-Z110BT, a new in-dash navigation system that lets users get GPS guidance and enjoy audio and video at the same time. You can hook up your Apple iPod or iPhone or your bluetooth phone and control them with voice commands. You can even get local news and weather info if you if you opt-in for the MSN Direct subscription service.

Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT comes with motorized 7″ touch panel display, a fast processor and 4GB of on-board flash memory which includes maps for continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada and more than 12 million points of interests.

Some other features and specs include text-to-speech, USB, SD slots, satellite radio support, and DVD, CD support when even does dual zone entertainment.

Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT requires 2-DIN on your dash, and will cost $1600 when it comes out in July.

Pioneer AVIC-U310BT is the final addition to Pioneer’s AVIC line up. Out of the ones we talked about today (Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT, Pioneer AVIC-X910BT, and Pioneer AVIC-X710BT) Pioneer AVIC-U310BT is the most affordable one with a suggested retail price of $600.

Just like the other ones U310BT is also a 2-DIN GPS navigation system that features bluetooth hands free option, iPod and iPhone controls, and a smaller (but sufficient) 4.3″ WQVGA touch screen. It carries the same maps from TeleAtlas covering US and Canada, but instead of 12 million, it only has 500 thousand points of interest. However Pioneer AVIC-U310BT does feature an SD card slot located within the detachable front panel of the unit that lets you bring in more POIs and even a map of Mexico.

It does not do CDs or DVDs but can still play your audio from MP3, WMA, or AAC formats. Another neat feature is hidden behind the device; a USB port that can connect various audio players.

You’ll have to wait for July to put a Pioneer AVIC-U310BT on your dash.

UPDATE: We said no CD or DVDs but that slot at the top of the device awfully resembles an optical media drive to us. What do you think?

Pioneer AVIC-X710BT - the new in-dash GPS navigation system from the company - is quite similar to the Pioneer AVIC-X910BT we just talked about. The only difference is that Pioneer AVIC-X710BT does not include the MSN Direct tuner, and does not do DVD playback. Therefore costs $200 less, bringing it down to only $900.

Pioneer AVIC-X710BT still has built-in bluetooth capabilities and you can bring more media to the system using the SD card slot.

Pioneer aims to help you arrive at your destination on time (or early) via the most efficient route possible, unveiling a new range of Avic in-dash navigators with the flagship AVIC-Z110BT you see above taking the lead. Other releases include the AVIC-X710BT, X910BT and the U310BT. These are all pretty expensive devices, considering the cheapest among them start from $599 upwards, so if you're on an extremely tight budget, we'd suggest you look somewhere else. Features aren't alacking though, as the high end Z110BT will come with a tilt-out XGA 7' touchscreen display, MSN Direct tuner, 4GB of internal memory, CD and DVD playback as well as Bluetooth connectivity. Not only that, you will be able to speak your requests for it to process, while hooking up your iPod to it whenever you get bored of what the local airwaves are playing.

Pioneer presents a new in dash entertainment system with GPS navigation called Pioneer AVIC-F310BT. Pioneer AVIC-F310BT has a sale price of € 799, - relatively cheap, but that does not mean that the system is equipped sparingly. According to Pioneer, the AVIC-F310BT is the entry model for consumers who are fed up with cigarette lighters and suction cups to make the device work. The double-DIN mounting system offers a big advantage that a stand alone GPS navigation system also has: it is removable - the screen that is; which is enough to steer away most thieves.

AVIC-F310BT is an all-in-one system. Radio, CD player, USB connection with the option to connect an iPod and the navigation system are all combined. Pioneer AVIC-F310BT is controlled via the touch screen and even handsfree for those who wish to call using the built-in Parrot Bluetooth car kit. The navigation system is equipped with the maps of at lease 44 European countries and also offer free TMC traffic updates. Although F310BT is equipped with an SD card reader, it can only be used for new maps for the device or to bring in new POIs for the system. Another nice feature with this latest Pioneer system is the adjustable lighting which makes AVIC-F310BT suitable for many cars. The LED colors of this system can match the interior of your vehicle.

Users can also use the free NavGate Feeds software from the manufacturer on their PC and use it to connect to the detachable screen we just mentioned. The software can also be used while driving, to monitor fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. The manufacturer suggested retail price is set at € 799…

Pioneer in UK just announced a new in-dash GPS navigation + entertainment system called Pioneer NavGate AVIC-F9110BT. The unit is specifically designed for VW, Skoda and Seat vehicles.

AVIC-F9110BT has a high-resolution 5.8-inch WVGA touch screen, 2GB internal memory that stores maps of 44 European countries by TeleAtlas, and also includes 1.7million Points-of-Interests (POIs). The device has text-to-speech feature; not only for street names but even for traffic events that it receives via the TMC receiver.

Some multimedia features include the ability to watch videos from DVDs, CDs, SD cards, USB devices, control your iPod or iPhone using a special cable, and support for various audio formats. It also does bluetooth so you can relay phone conversations to your car’s stereo.

Another neat feature is the ability to customize the POI database from Google Maps using the SD card and their NavGate Feeds application.

Pioneer AVIC-Z3 is a double DIN in-dash HDD based GPS navigation system. It is the most expensive from the manufacturer, with an MSRP of $1800 (however Amazon has Pioneer AVIC-Z3 for $1310). It has some impressive navigation features, so let’s go over those in more detail:

• point addressing: many destinations are geocoded to a precise point instead of an address range.

• high resolution display of traffic conditions


• voice recognition of POIs without having to choose a category


• text-to-speech


• compatible with XM NAVTRAFFIC for live traffic updates

That’s all for navigation but that’s not what Pioneer AVIC-Z3 can do. The device is bluetooth capable so you can pair up a compatible phone. There’s a 30GB HDD, 10GB of which is dedicated to your tunes; and can be accessed with your voice. You can also bring your iPod in and control it using the 7″ touchscreen. Optical drive allows you to play DVDs, rip CDs, and play bunch of other media formats.

Pioneer AVIC-MRZ088 is latest GPS navigation system from the company to feature a 5.8″ touch screen. It is a 2-DIN system with an SD card slot on the front as well as an optical drive at the top edge.

Also in the carrozzeria series Pioneer AVIC-MRZ088 has an embedded 8GB flash memory unlike the HRZ099 which has a 40GB HDD.

Other features include amazing 3D maps complete with buildings, street lights, and lanes; USB support, 1Seg TV tuner, AM/FM radio, bluetooth, audio jack, and a built-in amplifier (50W x4).

Pioneer just introduced four new GPS navigation systems in Japan under the ‘carrozzeria’ model name. The higher end model out of all of these nice systems is the AVIC-HRZ099 which provides a high screen resolution of 800x480 on its 7 inch display.

The other models are named HRZ088, HRV022, and HRV011. These are also quite capable devices but only have a resolution of 480x234 for the same 7″ screen.

Other differences include the 50Wx4ch amplifier which is only available on the HRZ-099 and HRZ088. However they all support DVD/CD/WMA/MP3/AAC/DivX formats for hours of in car entertainment and have a hard disk drive of 40GB as well as a digital TV tuner…

Pioneer has rolled out not one but four new GPS navigation gadgets this week. Known as the HRZ099, HRZ088, HRV022, and HRV011, these gadgets share the same specifications including 40GB storage capacity, 1Seg TV, 7-Inch LCD Screen and can play WMA, MP3, AAC, and DivX file formats. These navigation systems are also compatible with the iPods. The Pioneer HRZ099 is the High-End model that comes equipped with a resolution of 800 x 480. Meanwhile, the Pioneer HRZ099 and HRZ088 are also equipped with a built-in Amplifier that produces a maximum output of 50W x 4ch.

After AVIC N4 and N3 we now have the latest and greatest from the N series. The new Pioneer AVIC N5.

Reading the specs we realize they haven’t added any new features to AVIC N5, in fact we can go ahead and say they’ve done a search and replace for N4 to create N5 features page. Except one difference though: MSRP for AVIC N5 is $1500 instead of $1600 which was the suggested retail price for N4.

AVIC N5 fits into a 1-DIN chassis and has a motorized mechanism to reveal its sharp 7″ screen with 480x234 resolution. The navigation data is read from DVD which means your optical drive will be busy if you want to get some ‘new’ directions. It does have navigation from memory feature to remember your route once you enter your destination address though. The maps fit into 2 DVD’s and they come from TeleAtlas and cover US, Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii.

The GPS receiver is included in the package and it can track 8 satellites at once. AVIC N5 is bluetooth, iPod, XM and Sirius ready but they all require additional purchases.

Look out Microsoft, Pioneer's Linc series of in-dash and 'on-dash' systems have their sights set on your voice controlled Sync. The first thing you'll notice is Pioneer's pixy-dusted UI which easily trumps the Sync's rather staid presentation. The videos show off Pioneer's real-time data feeds and natural speech recognition with the help of some smarmy actor-slash-models who'll probably be serving you lunch today if you live in LA. But we digress. Videos after the break... which, let's be honest, is the best we can do until the DivX-happy, SD-friendly AVIC-F900BT, F700BT, and F500BT (pictured) are released in June.

It's times like these when holding our fingers back from buying that one-way ticket to Tokyo is so incredibly difficult. Just today, Pioneer has introduced the Air Navi AVIC-T10, a portable car navigation system that 'supports communications modules and provides drivers with new communications services for the Japanese market.' According to the release, this bad boy is 'clearly distinguished from conventional PNDs,' provides oodles of information about traffic, weather, local events, gas station prices, etc. and packs a pretty impressive list of specs. We're talking a 5.8-inch WVGA display, 1-seg TV tuner, 4GB of flash memory, integrated gyro sensor and built-in Bluetooth to boot. Those lucky enough to be in the right nation can snatch this gem next month for a currently undisclosed price.

The Pioneer F500 has finally received FCC’s approval to ship this GPS system to the States. The F500 features bluetooth for hands-free calling, an optional traffic antenna, and a ND-BC2 add-on to hook the unit on a rear view camera, and an SD card slot. No word on price or availability for this GPS system but it’s now available in Europe as the NavGate 500 for 699 Euros or $1100 which is on the pricey side.
