Panasonic of Japan today introduced 5 new portable and 3 in-dash Strada GPS navigation systems.

The portable ones come with either a 5″ or a 7″ touch screen display and all come with 8GB of RAM, 1Seg digital TV tuner, and VICS traffic control on the higher end models. Some of the new portable sat nav devices are:

• CN-SP300L-K


• CN-MP700VD-K


• CN-MP500VD-K

The in-dash GPS navigation systems on the other hand come with a 60GB HDD, DVD, CD support, 7″ WVGA display, and cost between 200K to 280K Yen.

The three in-dash sat navs are:

• CN-HX910D


• CN-HW890D


• CN-HW860D

Some other features of these include the bluetooth, digital TV tuners, and bluetooth…

Panasonic of Japan just announced three new GPS navigation systems for their Strada series. The new models are CN-MP150D/DL, CN-MP180D, and the CN-MP250D.

All the new sat nav systems have a 5″ screen and come with a faster processor - not sure how that affects the battery life though. There’s a slot for microSD cards which can support cards up to 8GB. That’s plenty of room for media.

Here is how the three GPS navigation devices differ:

• CN-MP150D/DL: entry level, no 1Seg TV tuner


• CN-MP180D: adds TV tuner


• CN-MP250D: adds TV tuner and a VICS receiver for traffic updates

Panasonic Two New In-Dash GPS Devices

Here are two new in-dash GPS devices from Panasonic, the CN-MW200D and CN-MW100D. Both of these devices feature a 7-inch widescreen LCD, a 2 DIN AV system, a CD/DVD player, HDD and iPod friendly. The main difference is that the CN-MW200D offers a digital TV tuner, while the CN-MW100D only comes with a 1Seg TV tuner (not digital). The CN-MW200D and CN-MW100D will be available in Japan in September for unannounced price yet.

Panasonic CN-MP200 and CN-MP100 are two new portable GPS navigation systems for the Japanese market. As with everything in Japan, CN-MP200 can show digital TV channels thanks to its 1Seg TV tuner.

There isn’t anything too exciting about these GPS navigation systems other than the fact that they allow two way communication between the device and Google Maps for sharing POIs.

Panasonic and Kenwood seem to be in an arms race when it comes to 2DIN car entertainment navigation systems. Just the other day we heard of Kenwood DNX 8220BT and today we have Panasonic CN-HW830D which combines various useful features right to your dash.

It has an optical drive to support CD, MP3, and DVD playback. You can watch digital TV on the 7″ touchscreen with 800x480 resolution, or transfer files via high capacity SD cards or access your files on the hard disk drive. Speaking of HDD, that’s where navigation maps are stored so you’ll have your optical drive free for other stuff. You can also control your iPod with Panasonic CN-HW830D.

It looks like this device will stay in Japan (do let us know if you see it elsewhere) and will be available on September 12th for about $2500…

Panasonic GPS Strada CN-HX1000D and CN-HW1000D

CN-HX1000D and CN-HW1000D are the two additions to Panasonic’s Strada GPS navigation system lineup.

What’s special about these two new Strada’s is that they can be setup to control various things around the house. However as an intermediary device you’ll need your Bluetooth capable phone with a data plan with SoftBank, Docomo, and Au, so you can access all your devices from the internet - which will give you control over your door lock, DVR and TV, and many other things.

Strada CN-HX1000D and CN-HW1000D does provide other functions in addition GPS navigation and home control of course; such as the TV receiver, optical drive, hard disk drive, support for numerous media files, all on a sharp 7″ screen.

If you have trouble finding your way around, perhaps it is time to invest in a GPS navigation system. The Panasonic CN-MP50D GPS system isn't any good in the US though, as its 2GB SD card comes pre-loaded with essential phone numbers and map information of 10 million points of interest in Japan. It will hit the Japanese market this February 12th for approximately $650 after conversion. Strange thing it lacks audio and video playback though - that's like taking a few steps backwards compared to other GPS systems these days that seem to function more and more like PMPs. No idea if it will ever make it Stateside, but keep yourself occupied with the specifications below in the meantime.

Panasonic unveils Strada CN-HDS710TD in-dash GPS

Panasonic's just announced a new mid-range, Strada-brand, in-dash GPS unit for the hometown crowd, the CN-HDS710TD. Following the European-spec'ed CN-GP50N we just spotted at IFA, this rolling entertainment center offers almost all of the functionality you could ask for, with a 40GB HDD, DVD / CD player, SD slot, MiniDisc deck, and digital TV tuner all feeding a 480 x 234 pixel 7-inch LCD. In fact, the only things really missing here (besides a cassette player for your old mix tapes) are Bluetooth support and iPod connectivity, which can both be added on for an extra fee. The double-DIN 710TD will retail for 270,900 yen ($2,358) when it hits Japan a month from today, with two other models also available minus MD slots (700TD) and / or TV tuners (700D) for 249,900 yen ($2,176) and 189,000 yen ($1,645), respectively.
