The Sony NV-U76V PND comes equipped with a 4.8-inch display screen with a 480 x 272 pixel resolution, an 8GB of storage space, Bluetooth connectivity and a 1Seg TV tuner with the possibility to record video. What makes this navigation gadget special is that it features a new ‘Position Plus GT’, which is able to guide thought tunnels or areas with poor GPS coverage. Measuring 141mm x 17.5mm x 88.5mm and weighing 255 grams, the Sony NV-U76V PND retails for around 60,000 Yen ($683). [Akihabara]

Sony NV-U35 GPS navigation system
We haven’t heard much about the Sony NV (or Nav-U, whatever you want to call it) series lately. Well, Sony just came out with a multipurpose GPS navigation system called NV-U35 that is designed to be used in automobiles, on bicycles, or just on foot.
What makes Sony NV-U35 different than most other sat nav systems out there is that it has a direction recorder and is IPX5 water resistant. It does also include a digital compass.
Some other features of the new NV-U35 include the 3.5″ QVGA touch screen, 8GB of internal storage that can be used for various multimedia formats including support for audio, video, and still images…
It will be coming out in Japan mid March.

Sony NV-U75 GPS navigation system
Sony's latest GPS navigation system, the NV-U75 ought to be able to help you get places quickly and easily, where it will come with a 4.5' WQVGA touchscreen display, 8GB of internal memory, an improved Maps system alongside Bluetooth connectivity that makes the device double up as a handsfree solution. Alternatively, you can also throw in extra dough to pick up the optional 1Seg TV Tuner, turning this into an impromptu portable entertainment powerhouse - subject to signal strength, of course. To up the ante even more, Sony allows you to forward your GPS data or friends information straight from your KDDI Phone (KDDI only) directly to the NV-U75. While the NV-U75 can be used while driving, it also works fine if you decide to tote it around on foot or when you're cycling, as the gyro sensor will offer more accurate information whenever it is unable to get a decent satellite lock.
The FCC has approved the Sony Ericsson Yari, which is also known as the Sony Ericsson U100a. It is a slider phone that comes with gesture controls which apparently will make your games a whole lot more fun. Additional features include a 2.4-inch display (240×320), a GPS receiver, a 5MP camera with flash, a separate camera for video calls, stereo speakers, Bluetooth, WiFi, and a microSD memory expansion slot. The Yari runs UMTS Bands 1, 2, and 5, and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. No info on pricing or availability so far.

Sony Latest GPS Navigation Device With 6.1-inch LCD
Sony has released their latest PND in the form of the NV-U3DV. The gadget provides a 4GB of internal storage and a 6.1-inch WQVGA (480×272) LCD screen, which is larger than most GPS navigation gadgets on the market. The Japanese version of NV-U3DV will have an antenna for television broadcasts. Users can also play their own movies, music, and pictures (MPEG-4/AVC+H.264 with restrictions, MP3/AAC up to 320kbps, and JPEG). No word on pricing so far.

Sony Introduces New GPS System In Japan
Japanese will be able to get their hands on a new GPS navigation system from Sony, where it'll be interesting to see who'll pick one up since virtually every car sold comes with their own GPS unit. The device in question is the Sony NV-U3C that features a 3.5' QVGA touchscreen display with an aspect ratio of 4:3, 4GB of internal memory and compatibility with PetaMap data to offer information as well as announcements regarding a store or restaurant of your choice.
Wayfinder and Sony Ericsson to bring navigation applications to users
Wayfinder announced that it extended its agreement with Sony Ericsson which will enable them to preload navigation applications on a range of current and future Sony Ericsson devices.
Wayfinder Navigator application is trying to bring mobile phone-based navigation to the mass market and it allows consumers to download Tele Atlas-based maps of more than 70 countries and avoid expensive data roaming costs, even when traveling abroad.
Wayfinder Navigator is already on W760 Walkman and C702 Cyber-shot and the upcoming C905 Cyber-shot phone as well as P1i smart phone from Sony Ericsson…

Ride along with Sony's NAV-U94T portable GPS
(Credit: CBS interactive)After recently revamping its NAV-U line of portable GPS devices, Sony dropped by to give us a first look at their top of the line NAV-U94T model that should be hitting store shelves soon. We've already covered many of the new features offered by this device, but hands-on time with the device gives us a little more insight. In order of importance, here are the features we liked most:
Navigation enabled units display traffic issues in order of proximity.
(Credit: CBS Interactive)The first feature demonstrated was the Position Plus technology which uses a gyroscope, an accelerometer, and (interestingly) a barometer to keep track of vehicle position to continue navigation when satellite reception is lost. We chose San Francisco's Stockton Street Tunnel as our destination, which is approximately three blocks long, and set off. Partway through the tunnel, we lost satellite reception, indicated by the display's position triangle turning orange, but the U94T seemed to keep track of our position.
Applying the brakes, we began to slow, then briskly sped back up. The speed readout on the display kept track of these changes as well. Emerging from the other end of the tunnel, the device quickly locked on to satellite reception and we moved on to the next part of testing.
Sony NV-U94T is the latest top of the line GPS navigation system from Sony. Priced at $400 NV-U94T has some high end features such as A2DP Bluetooth technology, a large 4.8″ touch screen with 16:9 aspect ratio, acceleration sensor, a pressure sensor and a gyro sensor that together can calculate the vehicle’s current position based on the last known GPS location, and of course - unique to Sony - gesture commands.
Other features include RDS-TMC traffic receiver, multimedia features and the slimmer form factor. Sony NV-U94T will be available as early as September.

Also just released like NV-U94T, the new NV-U84 model offers the best value in the large-screen segment. Priced at $350, drivers get a large 4.8 inch 16:9 aspect ratio display plus, dual view, text to speech, photo viewer and gesture command. Different from 94T, NV-U84 lacks RDS-TMC traffic receiver and bluetooth features.

Sony Remixes Nav-U GPS Line With Four New Models

Another new GPS navigation system from Sony is NV-U74T which offers a slightly smaller touch screen that measures 4.3″ , blutooth wireless, and real-time traffic reports.
In addition you’ve got the dual view feature to help you out at intersections, TTS (text-to-speech), and the 2GB internal flash memory which has maps of U.S. preloaded. Also from the image above we can tell Sony is also trying to perfect their ‘reality view’ just like Garmin and Navigon.
Sony NV-U74T will cost about $350 and will be available as early September 10th.

Sony’s new entry level GPS navigation system is called NV-U44 which features a 3.5″ touch screen and comes with pre-loaded maps of United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Gesture Command is on board just like other Sony sat nav systems and it lets you take control via simple, on-screen finger movements.
NV-U44 also has dual view which displays dynamic route information and a clearer view of what’s ahead at the next turn. The NV-U44 is available in black, red and silver. It will start to ship on September 10th and will cost $250.

So the Sony PSP not only plays games, surfs the Internet, doubles up as a (hefty) portable media player, and acts as a Skype device, it will most probably function as a GPS navigation device in the future. Apparently this GPS feature is rumored to hit the US within the coming year, with maps provided by TeleAtlas. Certain cities will be blessed with 3D buildings, and chances are these won't be backwater states. The GPS software can run straight off an UMD or Memory Stick and will be priced between $100 and $200. Well, if you aren't too hard up for a GPS device, I suppose you can wait for another year or so.

Sony today announced a pair of in-car GPS receivers. The large-screen, suction-cup-mounted GPS units feature touchscreens and real-time traffic updates, as well as voice-to-text interaction. The two units are the NV-U73T and the NV-U83T. They’re similar in most ways, save for the U83T featuring Bluetooth for handsfree calling. They’re out now for $300 and $400, respectively.

GPS navigation software for Sony PSP
We’ve talked about the Sony PSP GPS navigation system numerous times before. Apparently the software was on demo at the Game Developers Conference recently. The GPS add-on (PSP-290) is not seen in this pic for it is a developers kit version it says our source:
However there were a bunch (7) GPS-supporting games that had been released in Japan on view, including Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus & a couple of golf games. (And by the way, the reason you can’t see the GPS top-mounted aerial in the photo is this is a devkit PSP.)
