TomTom announces new professional GPS navigation systems

TomTom last week announced three new GPS navigation systems for professional use - each with 5″ display.

• TomTom PRO 7150
• TomTom PRO 7150 TRUCK
• TomTom PRO 9150

They all offer mileage logging, time logging, status reports, and more which are part of TomTom’s WORKsmart system. Some other features include IQ routes technology, ECO routes, lane guidance, text-to-speech, and hands free calling. The difference is PRO 7150 TRUCK offers truck specific routing which accounts for cargo, heigh, weight restrictions for 15 European countries. PRO 9150 on the other hand has integrated WEBFLEET connection which doesn’t require the TomTom LINK.

Here is what the recommended pricing is like: PRO 7150 359 Euros, PRO 9150 429 Euros, and PRO 7150 TRUCK is 399 Euros.

TomTom unveils VIA Series in North America

TomTom, one of the more trusted names when it comes to GPS navigation systems, has recently announced that they will be making available their new VIA Series in the US as well as the Great White North. These new TomTom VIA navigation devices was originally announced at CES 2011, where they are meant to deliver a powerful navigation experience in a sleek new design, accompanied by an enhanced software platform and premium safety-enhancing features such as Intuitive Voice Recognition and Bluetooth Hands-Free Calling.

In addition to deliver even more choices for drivers, the new VIA Series will feature a range of models that include the 4.3’ VIA 1405 and 1435, alongside the 5’ VIA 1505 and 1535. If you intend to purchase those, you can also opt for Lifetime Maps and/or Lifetime Traffic if you have additional dough to spare.

With TomTom VIA’s super-slim design and their new, integrated and innovative fold-and-go EasyPort mount, you will find it a snap to position your spanking new GPS navigation device on the windshield or the dash, where the display of the device will orient itself courtesy of a handy flip-screen feature. Since life is all about choices, you are limited to just two finishes (to prevent the paradox of having too many options) - where the VIA 1435 and 1535 comes with a contemporary brushed-aluminum finish, while the VIA 1405 and 1505 range will be more stately with their classic, black finish.

Very similar to the TomTom XL350 we talked about moments ago TomTom also announced TomTom XXL 550. Almost all specs are identical except of course the screen size. XXL 550 moves you from a 4.3″ to a 5″ screen.

Naming convention also stays the same. You’ve got XXL 550M and XXL 550TM for free map updates, and XXL 550 T, XXL 550 TM gets Lifetime Traffic Updates.

How much for a bigger screen? TomTom XXL 550 will cost $200 and the one time maps, and traffic subscription will cost $30.

TomTom XL 350

TomTom just recently announced their new TomTom XL 350. This is a GPS navigation system with a 4.3″ touchscreen, 7 million POIs, advanced lane guidance, TomTom’s new EasyMenu user interface, IQ Routes Technology and TomTom Map Share. IQ Routes makes routing decision based on historical traffic data, and Map Share allows you to make corrections to maps and share with TomTom communit.

TomTom XL 350M and XL350TM will also offer lifetime free TeleNav map updates which gets refreshed every month, and Lifetime Traffic Updates, ensures the smartest and fastest routing possible which is available on XL 350T, and XL 350TM.

The TomTom XL350 will be available in late May and prices will begin at $169. Lifetime Maps and Lifetime Traffic Updates are each available for an additional $30.00.

TomTom just announced their latest GPS navigation system for bikers called TomTom Urban Rider. Expected to go on sale in Europe at the end of May for 249 € the new Urban Rider tries to make things very easy for hands with gloves on such as even bigger icons, glove friendly touch screen, and only two button operation.

Other features include the usual Tomtom services such as IQ routes, and MapShare.

If you want the maps of whole Europe it will cost you an extra 50 € and there’s also the pro version which adds bluetooth headset into the mix.

TomTom took the entry level GPS navigation system TomTom EASE, changed the color from gray on gray to red on white and called it a Valentine’s Day special. Nothing wrong with that unless you’re buying this for a special someone to put off a bigger purchase you should be planning. This does cost a mere $120 after all on Amazon.

Features? Just the basics but it will still get you from A to B. 3.5″ touchscreen, TeleAtlas maps of the U.S, IQ routes, Map Share, and the TomTom special EasyPort mount. It does speak street names. Good enough.

TomTom just introduced an entry level GPS navigation system called TomTom Ease. It will have a 3.5″ touchscreen, 2GB memory that includes TeleAtlas maps of the US, and text-to-speech feature (we’re really glad text-to-speech is now part even the lowest end sat nav systems).

Other features include their famous fold & go easy mount, Map Share technology, IQ Routes, and Help Me menu for emergencies.

We’re not sure how much it will cost yet but how much are you guys hoping for?

TomTom XXL 540S World Traveler Edition

Remember the TomTom XXL 540S we mentioned back in September? Well they just came out with a new version of that called TomTom XXL 540S World Traveler Edition. As you may have guessed the only thing that’s going to different with this World Traveler Edition is the maps. The new XXL 540S will come with maps of U.S., Canada and Europe which requires a bigger 4GB internal memory.

Other features are pretty much the same, including text-to-speech, advanced lane guidance, seven million points of interests, TomTom Help Me, and Map Share technologies.

TomTom XXL 540S World Traveler Edition will cost $350 when it comes out in early December.

TomTom GO I-90 is the latest in car infotainment plus GPS navigation system from the company. This retro fitted device takes up 2-DIN on your dashboard and therefore can be installed in many cars, including older ones.

TomTom GO I-90 combines radio too so you don’t have to give up your favorite station but it lacks a CD slot. However that’s not all that bad since listening to tunes on your CD is so old school. GO I-90 does support USB storage devices - which would be a really easy way to bring your music on board.

Another benefit of TomTom GO I-90 integrated solution in addition to completely getting ridding of charging cables and mounts is that it works with the audio system in your car which should be nice and loud and interference free since it would mute your music while directions are being announced.

TomTom GO I-90 comes with maps of Western Europe pre-installed, supports bluetooth connected phones for hands free and will be available starting December 2009 for Є599.

TomTom Go I-90 integrates into any dashboard, brings radio 'infotainment'

TomTom has been on a mission to keep itself relevant as smartphones increasingly start to overstep on its territory, and the GO I-90 is another move in its counteroffensive plan. Capable of slotting into the double DIN slot usually reserved for in-car radio / music players, its big selling point is that it integrates into your dashboard yet is still capable of being moved around like a discrete nav unit. You wouldn't be left decrying the loss of your radio either, with the GO I-90 sporting FM (with RDS support) and AM reception, USB support for MP3 players including iPods, and a promised compatibility with an 'extensive' list of phones for handsfree calling -- unfortunately, the poorly worded PR makes no mention of Bluetooth so we're not sure how they'll pull that off. Throw in a guarantee to receive the latest maps, TomTom's Map Share for crowdsourced routes, and a Help-Me! emergency menu, and you get a pretty comprehensive product. Shame about that €599 (about $893) sticker then. Available in Europe in December.

TomTom has unveiled the TomTom XL 335S, a 4.3-inch touch screen model featuring text-to-speech capability and Advanced Lane Guidance for $239.95, in what could be a further refinement of the company's Editors' Choice-winning TomTom One 140-S.

The XL 335S hooks into TomTom's IQ Routes technology, which adapts to the driving experiences of millions of TomTom users worldwide when calculating directions. It also features Advanced Lance Guidance, which depicts highway interchanges and exit ramps with lane-specific visual directions.

The XL 335S also includes U.S. and Canadian maps, spoken street names, seven million points of interest, and TomTom's Fold and Go EasyPort mount. No word yet on a release date.

TomTom Car Kit for iPhone hits European stores today

TomTom has been talking up its Car kit for the iPhone for a while now. Navigation fans in Europe can starting today pick the car kit up on the TomTom web store and from the Apple online store. It would be hard to have missed the specifications of the iPhone car kit, but in case you have, they are as follows.

The TomTom Car kit has a secure docking design that attaches to the car windshield or dashboard with a twist and lock motion. The mount is rotatable to allow use of the phone in portrait or landscape mode and can be removed with one twist once at your destination.

The car kit also includes a built-in GPS receiver to reduce GPS drops out in areas where signals can be challenging like areas with tall buildings or trees. The device has a built-in speaker and mic as well to allow direction to be heard and hands free calling. The kit also charges the iPhone while it is in use. The device is available for 99,99 euro and is compatible with the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

TomTom Work is busy at work and they just unveiled a new GPS navigation system for trucks called TomTom GO 7000 Truck.

TomTom GO 7000 Truck includes Map share technology that lets the pros make some corrections on those roads they so well. The device always takes into considerations the restrictions based on the dimensions and weight of your vehicle.

TomTom GO 7000 Truck is ready for professional business of course since when used with LINK 300 and a subscription to WEBFLEET it can record business mileage, report back, and receiver new destinations.

News about a new TomTom GPS navigation system has leaked out thanks to a UK retailer. It appears to be called TomTom Start, and as the name may suggest, it is an entry level sat nav device.

The price tag of TomTom Start is £120 for the local version and £140 for the European version. It only measures 94mm by 81mm on the front side and is 20mm in thickness. It has a 3.5″ touchscreen and comes with the famous new ‘EasyPort’ mount… <

TomTom has a couple of new models out called TomTom XL 325, and TomTom XL 325-S. Their product pages on TomTom’s website lead to nowhere but at least Walmart has the product details up.

TomTom XL 325 has a 4.3″ widescreen, comes with maps of U.S. only and comes with TomTom’s famous Fold & Go EasyPort mount. How much? $130 only.

TomTom XL 325 S on the other hand is pretty much the same deal but adds text-to-speech functionality. However we don’t know how much this one will cost.

TomTom just announced TomTom XL 340S Live. This is a mid-range GPS navigation system from the company with connected services. It will go for $300 which will include 3 months live connected services which we just mentioned. These include things like local search from Google, real-time traffic updates, weather information, and the cheapest fuel prices around.

TomTom XL 340S Live has a 4.3″ touch screen and is quite similar to the TomTom XL 740 Live. However it lacks bluetooth connectivity for hands free calling - and the live services are on AT&T’s network.

Another cool feature with this new GPS navigation system is that it uses TomTom QuickGPSfix which utilizes A-GPS to get a satellite location fix faster.

The connected services for TomTom XL 340S Live will cost $10/month after the first month.

At the same time XXL 530S was announced, the company also announced TomTom XXL 540S GPS navigation system.

TomTom XXL 540S differs from 530S by offering US and Canada AND Mexico maps, lane guidance feature, seven millions points of interests, and a fancier shiny black finish.

These extras will set you back an extra $20, putting the price of TomTom XXL 540S at $300. It is probably worth it.

And yes, the ginormous 5″ is on this model too.

TomTom XXL 530S is the new GPS navigation system from the company. First thing that catches our attention here is the ‘XXL’ of course. Why XXL? Because the screen measures 5″.

Just released for the U.S. and Canada markets, the TomTom XXL 530S will offer the IQ Routes Technology which claims to save time and fuel by providing the most optimal route. It does this by utilizing historical speed measurements for every time of day and for every road segment, from large highways to small roads.

Other than that a couple other things worth mentioning are the awesome window mounts that come with the device and the TomTom map share technology that lets users edit/correct maps.

TomTom XXL 530S will cost $280 when it comes out in October.

Until SiRFStarIV takes over the world, bigger screens are pretty much the best upgrade a GPS can get.

And obviously, the new TomTom XXL line features large, five-inch screens.

Otherwise, the two GPS units are pretty typical for their pricerange. Both the TomTom XXL 530S ($280) and 540S ($300) include the latest TomTom UI, US and Canadian maps, the ability to correct street names in the database and preloaded emergency locations like hospitals. If you spend the extra cash on the 540S, you get Bender-friendly Mexico maps, lane-specific guidance (you see in the lead shot), seven million points of interested preloaded and, of course, a more premium black finish.
